Through its infoNOW communities, APWA connects you to the most highly educated public works professionals who have experience in the areas you have questions about.

What are infoNOW communities?

APWA's infoNOW communities are email networks consisting of public works professionals (based on subject area) who share questions, answers and real-life experiences. The best part of it is, as a member of APWA, this network of professionals is at your fingertips for no additional cost. Subscribe to one or all, it's up to you.

How do you access infoNOW?

The infoNOW communities can be accessed within the APWA Connect platform.

infoNOW Community Description
Canadian Public Works Information exchange on all public works and infrastructure issues unique to members in Canada, and information on programs and activities of the Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA).
Center for Sustainability A forum for the exchange and announcement of issues specific to sustainability, including such issues as the triple bottom line, livable communities, best management practices and updates from the APWA Center for Sustainability.
Emergency Covering emergency preparedness issues that directly effect all areas of public works and public infrastructure asset systems, including discussions on all four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Engineering & Technology For discussions about emerging technology, technical and society trends, and new insights into the implication of engineering practice for our communities and quality of life,
Facilities & Public Grounds Covering topics such as facilities, grounds, indoor air quality, ADA compliance, building operations, public parks, and service contracting.
Fleet Discussion of topics such as fleet management and operations, fuels, equipment and vehicle acquisition, maintenance and disposal, certification, technician training and professional development, shop rates, equipment specifications, charge-back rates, fleet management software, performance measures, alternative fueled vehicles, and new technology.
Government Affairs Information and updates on public works issues, regulations, legislation; advocacy; and APWA Legislative Action Alerts
Leadership & Management Covers supervisory techniques and skills, basic management, communications, finance, resource management, succession planning, strategic planning, policy development and implementation, systems thinking and other topics related to leadership and management.
Professional Development Topics include DCS Center, certifications, conference education sessions, Winter Maintenance Supervisor Workshop, Click Listen & Learn webcasts and other professional development needs and opportunities within APWA.
Public Works History Covers historical information relative to public works, as well as Public Works Historical Society announcements, business, and assistance for chapter historians.

Rural Communities
Issues  related to smaller or rural municipalities.
Solid Waste Covers issues on recycling, transfer stations, organics recycling, zero waste goals, landfil operations and other topics of interest to solid waste professoinals.

Urban Forum Addressing transportation, water, wastewater, homeland security and all other public works isses and programs that focus on the needs of our nation's largest communities.
Utility and Public Right-of-Way (UPROW) For discussions about utility marking, utility coordination, damage prevention, and right-of-way management issues.
Water Resources Covers laws, regulations and services to the public in regards to water resources, and identifies and promotes research neeed to advance public works practices in the area of water resources management.
